Double Rib Knit

Double rib is a knitted fabric ribbed on both sides, in which each rib is formed by two wales – a 2:2 alternation of two knit and two purl stitches.

Difference from fine rib

Compared with fine rib, double rib feels more grainy and is heavier. At the same time its crosswise stretch and elasticity are higher, giving the fabric a firmer handle.

Where you will find it

Double rib is used wherever a little more substance is wanted, for example in vests and briefs for the cooler season, as well as in cuffs and waistbands that benefit from its higher elasticity.
