Fashion lives on colour – which is why textiles are dyed and printed. Both belong to the finishing of underwear fabrics.
Colour is applied either to the raw fibre in the flock, to the yarn, to the finished fabric or – less often – to the complete garment. As a rule, the earlier in the process the dyeing takes place, the more even and wash-resistant the result.
Printing is essentially dyeing in patterns. Various processes are common, for example using rollers or screens; in rotary printing, up to eight colours can be applied, using pigment and discharge printing techniques. All colours used are, of course, free of AZO dyes.
