Single-faced or Right/Left Goods

In single-faced knitted fabric (right/left binding), depending on the needle position, only knit stitches form on one side of the fabric and only purl stitches on the other – the same needle position produces the same stitches, and the thread runs horizontally.

Single jersey – the classic

The resulting fabric has a clearly recognisable face and reverse side. A typical right/left fabric is single jersey, as used for day- and nightwear: smooth and non-bulky, though less stretchy than right/right goods.

Terry and loop plush

Terry fabric (right/left loop plush) also belongs to this group: one side shows stitch legs, the other loops. Depending on the purpose, the loop side is worn facing out (looks) or facing in (absorbency and warmth). Loop plush is soft, warming and has a gentle massaging effect.
