Continuous Yarn (Filament Yarn)

Continuous yarn (filament yarn) is made of practically endless threads – mostly man-made fibres, though pure natural silk counts as well.

Monofilament, multifilament, textured

Continuous yarns are processed either as monofilament, from a single continuous thread, or as multifilament, from several continuous threads combined. Permanent crimping (texturing) can make them bulkier still.

Why this matters for your underwear

Fabrics made from textured continuous yarn barely crumple, are elastic and pliant, and provide warmth through the air trapped in the crimped threads' loops – an effect smooth continuous yarn does not offer.
