Yarn

Yarn is a continuous, thread-shaped structure made either from staple fibres of limited length or from several continuous filaments.

Why yarn shapes the fabric

The type of yarn used has a decisive influence on the fabric's properties – on its appearance (evenness), its serviceability (resistance to abrasion, tearing, creasing and seam stress) and its wear comfort (absorbency, softness, suppleness). By use, a distinction is made between knitting yarn, weaving yarn, warp-knitting yarn and sewing thread.
