Garment making (making-up) stands for all the steps that turn an idea and a length of fabric into a finished piece of underwear – from the first design to the last seam.

The production steps at a glance

• Design – the creative development of a model
• Cut – the construction of the individual pattern pieces
• Grading – transferring the pattern to all garment sizes
• Cutting out – cutting the pieces from the fabric

Why making-up matters

How well underwear fits and lasts is not decided by the material alone: only a well-thought-out cut, precise cutting and elastic seams suited to knitted fabrics turn a good fabric into a garment that stays comfortable for years.
